STORY:

The battle between Lord Rama and Ravana is one of the highlights of the movie Adipurush. It tells the story of how Lord Rama, also known as Raghava (Prabhas) and Sita, also known as Janaki (Kriti Sanon), are exiled from Ayodhya for 14 years by order of Rama’s father Dasaradha due to Kaikeyi’s request that her son Bharata be crowned the king. On their journey, Rama and Seshu are diverted by a magical deer, allowing Ravana (Saif Ali Khan) to kidnap Sita. The remainder of the movie is about how Rama defeats Ravana with the help of Hanuman (Devdatte Naga) and brings Sita back home.

PERFORMANCE:

Devdatta Nage and Sunny Singh both did an amazing job in their respective roles as Hanuman and Lakshman in the movie Adipurush. While Sunny Singh had a respectable playtime, Devdatta Nage’s portrayal of Hanuman as the story went on became more and more impressive. The rest of the cast also did a great job in their minor roles. Prabhas nailed the character and both Devdatta Nage and Sunny Singh managed to exceed expectations in their performances.

POSITIVES:

Prabhas is one of the few actors in the current generation who can pull off mythological or period roles with ease and conviction. His charisma, body language, and dialogue delivery make him a perfect fit for Lord Sri Rama in Adipurush. He has an unmatched aura of royalty which is indomitable. Saif Ali Khan has been cast to match Prabhas in the film and he has done a great job in playing the role of Lankesh, i.e., Ravanasura. Saif Ali Khan’s incredible performance has earned him brownie points, making Adipurush even more fiery.

One more best thing to have happened to Adipurush is Saif Ali Khan. The team had an uphill task of casting an actor who could match Prabhas, and they indeed did a great job by casting Saif Ali Khan. The star actor makes the film even fiery with his incredible performance as Lankesh, i.e., Ravanasura. Saif Ali Khan performs it to the tee and has scored brownie points too.

NEGATIVES:

The film’s creators have chosen to tell the story through video-game visuals. While this might have seemed like a great idea at first, it has unfortunately detracted from the story, rather than adding to it. This has made it difficult for viewers to connect with the characters and the plot.

The poor VFX has taken away from the emotional impact of the film. It has also made it difficult for viewers to engage with the characters and the plot, instead of being able to lose themselves in the story.

However, despite the poor VFX, it is important to remember the narrative the creators are presenting. It is so deeply ingrained in the emotional fabric of our thoughts that it would be a down to completely disregard it.

In conclusion, while it is difficult to ignore the poor VFX in the film, it is important to remember the narrative the creators intended to tell. It is so deeply ingrained in the emotional fabric of our thoughts that it is necessary to at least consider it.

VERDICT:

Adipurush is a modern retelling of the classic Indian epic, the Ramayana, and features strong performances by Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Devdatte Nage. The movie starts off quite well but unfortunately the second half is a let-down. Nevertheless, the melodies and accompanying music are quite enjoyable and make up for the lack of VFX. Despite the well-known story, director Om Raut manages to inject some enjoyable moments. Ultimately, it will come down to how family audiences respond to this reimagined version of the Ramayana that will determine the film’s success at the box office. Adipurush is a watchable weekend movie if you can overlook the second half’s lack of action.

Adipurush is a modernized rendition of the Ramayana starring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, and Devdatte Nage in impressive performances. The first half of the movie does well, however the second half is a bit of a let down. Despite this, the melodic music and accompanying tunes make up for the average VFX job. Om Raut succeeds in making an enjoyable experience, even with the widely-known story. How family audiences react to this revamped version will ultimately determine the success of the film. Adipurush would make for an entertaining weekend movie, if one could overlook the second half’s lack of action.
